Trainee Network Board Meeting invitation, Tue 8th Nov 2016

Dear Trainees and Trainers,

The next Trainee Network board meeting will be held on Tuesday 8th November 2016. All involved with the STP or HSST are very welcome - please pass on this invitation.

Time: 2-3:30pm
Location: Meeting room E7, Level 7 of Block E at Addenbrooke's. It's hard to find so we will meet at the hospital's Main Reception at 13:50.

Agenda items will include:
  • Review the Welcome Event and National Induction
  • Communications from the NSHCS Trainee Representative Group meeting (24th Oct)
  • Update from the OSFA workshop planning committee
  • Changes to the Board
  • Initial planning for an Inter-Disciplinary Cases Workshop in late May, to include setting a date and appointing a planning committee.
  • Is there anything to raise at the next Trainee Representative Group meeting at the National School (January 2017)?
  • Set the date for the next board meeting, likely to be in late January 2017.

Please email us any questions, ideas, problems you're having or items for discussion, whether you can join us on the day or not - we exist to support your STP experience and your input is valuable. For example, what kind of events would you find useful? Do you need help with a particular Professional Practice competency? Do you have anything to raise with the NSHCS?

RSVP to eoehcs@gmail.com for refreshment purposes please!

Welcome Event 2016 review

We had a great time meeting many of our new trainees on Monday afternoon at Addenbrooke's!

The Network Co-Chairs, Alex and Rachel, explained a bit about the Network as well as giving some advice on rotations and competences, ahead of the information that will be presented at the National Induction in Birmingham on Wednesday.

John Hutchinson, Lead Cardiac Physiologist at Papworth, talked about being a Training Officer and what TOs expect from their trainees.

23 people attended in total, and we had a great Q&A session at the end covering a range of topics. Many thanks to all of those who filled in a feedback form - these are really useful for helping us to improve future events.

The slides presented by Rachel and Alex can be viewed here, with some additional information at the end not presented on the day.

We hope that, if you attended, you enjoyed meeting your new local colleagues, and that you have a great time meeting your specialism colleagues on Wednesday at the National Induction!

Our Facebook group

Did you know we're on Facebook?

Our group is called Health Education East of England STP Trainees. Please request to join us!

You may also find it helpful to join the national informal NHS STP and Clinical Scientist group.

Have you registered for the Network?

Are you involved in the STP in the East of England? You might be a trainer, a rotation supervisor, a third year trainee, or just about to start your training. This Network is for you!

If you're involved in the HSST instead, we'd also love you to register - we'd like to expand to work with you too, and this is the best way to make contact with us.

We set up a Google Form to make it quick and easy for you to register. Find it here if you haven't already registered.

We take protection of your data seriously. Only the Chairs and other selected members of the board have access to it, and we will use it only to try to benefit your training - for planning events, and for communications from the National School.

We look forward to hearing from you!
